Timers & rewards

Goal​

Child uses timers independently and sees rewards.

For whom​

Children with timer tasks in daily plan.

Where in the app​

/child — timer button on task; rewards tab.

Prerequisites​

Parent configured timers/stars.

Step by step​

  1. Open task with timer icon on /child.
  2. Tap Start timer — countdown visible.
  3. On finish: alarm sound and vibration (Android app), even when app is closed.
  4. Tap Stop alarm on notification or in app to complete the task.
  5. No alarm/notification when the app is closed or in the background? Open the app — a warning appears at the top of the child screen, tap Fix it now and grant the permissions.
  6. Samsung: set Routine Assist battery to Unrestricted and remove the app from Sleeping apps (Settings → Battery → Background usage limits).
  7. Stars credited on completion (parent rules).
  8. Open Rewards to see balance and redeem.
  9. Parent adjusts timer duration in calendar — not on child screen.

Options & settings​

Android: timer uses system alarm (AlarmManager) — allow exact alarms and notifications, plus the full-screen popup on Android 14+. On Samsung, battery saving/'Sleeping apps' blocks the alarm when the app is closed. Browser: timer only while tab is open.

Tips & troubleshooting​

Short timers (2–5 min) work better for young children.
